VIII. Rewrite each of the following sentences in another way so that it means almost the same as the sentence printed before it.

Đáp án: In spite of not being intelligent, Nam passed the exam easily.

             In spite of the fact that Nam wasn’t intelligent, he passed the exam easily.

32. Viết lại mệnh đề quan hệ với chủ ngữ đã xác định, do đó đây là mệnh đề không xác định.      

Đáp án: Avengers, which I want to watch again, is a fantastic movie.

33. Viết lại câu với cụm động từ đồng nghĩa:

  hào hứng, mong đợi

Đáp án: Wendy is looking forwards to her upcoming trip to Paris next week.

34. Viết lại mệnh đề quan hệ với “whose” đóng vai trò sở hữu cách.

S + [whose + N + …] + V + …

Đáp án: Today I’ve met a beautiful lady whose dress looked so gongeous.

35. Viết lại mệnh đề quan hệ dùng đại từ “which” thay thế cho chủ ngữ chỉ vật.

Đáp án: They were very surprised at the dinner which was ready on the table.

             They were very surprised that the dinner was ready on the table.

36. Viết lại câu với nghĩa không đổi thay “win” bằng “succeed”

Đáp án: The home team was succeeded in winning the match finally.

37. Viết lại câu chuyển từ quá khứ đơn sang hiện tại hoàn thành.

It’s + [time] + since + S + last + V² + …

S + have/has not + V³ …+ for [time]

Đáp án: We haven’t seen a movie for two months.

38. Viết lại câu điều ước với “wish”. Ước một điều không có thật ở hiện lại: S + wish(es) + (that) + S + would/could + V⁰…

Đáp án: Minh wishes (that) he could speak French as well as Lan.
